[Tsubasa][fst] Go Places: A Tsubasa FST

It’s anything goes month at fst and for the first time I have a fast enough connection to upload things, so…a Tsubasa FST is born. I hope it is enjoyed and does not suck.

Warning: contains spoilers up to chapter 180 and a little image-heavy.

Disc One

1. The New Pornographers – Go Places

Starting out on a journey, four strangers and a white thing, and oh so many places to go.

2. Alanis Morissette – Wunderkind
and I am a magnet for all kinds of deeper wonderment
I am a wunderkind
I am a groundbreaker naïve enough to believe this
I am a princess on the way to my throne

Princess Sakura. Our heroine, who may not be much at the start of the journey, but she’s still Sakura and that’s enough for Syaoran, and that will be enough for everyone else. Sakura is meeting new people and making friends and being herself, and that’s enough even without all her memories.

3. Blue October – Make Me Smile
My words, they pour
Like children to the playground
Children to the playground
You make me smile

Syaoran knows who his most important person is, and he will do anything to save her. No matter what it costs.

4. Tori Amos – Secret Spell
In one hand dreams a plenty
In her smile a secret spell

“What that boy needs is something to melt the frozen sections of his heart. Something like a smile as warm as sunshine in spring.”

A boy, a girl, and something important is born.

5. Enya – Exile
I will wait the time to come.
I'll find a way home

“I want to return to my world. That is my only purpose.”

Kurogane has one wish, and he’s going to see it through, because he’s Kurogane, dammit, and he’s going home. Just you wait.

6. 8mm – Liar
I’m a liar.
it’s my secret no one knows.
I’m a liar,
yeah, I know it doesn’t show

“It was stuck to you. Only one, though.”

Fai is nice and kind. Fai finds a feather on Syaoran’s cloak and gives it back, and tells the boy he must have grabbed it unconsciously to save Sakura, and then Fai smiles warmly and kindly.

Fai is lying through his teeth.

7. Hem – Redwing
we are tiny, we are trembling,
scared of everything
but the heart is still a red wing

Sakura and Syaoran. He loves her more than anything, and she doesn’t remember him. Not in her heart anyway. The body remembers. The rest will catch up.

8. Ugly Kid Joe – Everything about You
and I hate everything about you

While Sakura and Syaoran continue with the blushing cuddly love, Kurogane and Fai…bond. In a special kind of way. Sorta.

9. Gomez – See the World
And when all's been said and done
It's the things that are given, not won
Are the things that you want

And the road goes on. And on. And on. But that’s not so bad, really.

10. Vienna Teng – Shine
tell your story now
we have so much to know
shine with all the untold

Sakura and Syaoran, again. Still close, always. Blushing and cuteness. It’s all very sweet. Certainly there’s no way this could go horribly, horribly wrong, right? Right?

Disc Two

1. Rasputina – Bad Moon Rising (cover)
I see a bad moon rising
I see trouble on the way

Tokyo. Acid rain and destruction and death, and this is definitely not the journey they began. Syaoran’s eye is blue and Fai is covered in blood, and Sakura’s most precious person barely glances back as he leaves her behind.

2. Alana Davis – Weight of the World
the weight of the world has fallen
and the rubble is at my feet

After. Fai is dying and wants to, and damned if Kurogane is going to let that happen.

3. Jewel – Hands
I won’t be made useless

Sakura goes out alone, because this time it’s her price to pay and she will pay it willingly. Nobody’s damsel in distress, not this time. Even if she can’t fight, not the way Kurogane and Syaoran can, Sakura will still do what she can, even after everything.

4. Rachael Sage – Begin to Stop
I pick up somebody like I pick up disaster
Only faster and with more abandonment
I try too hard to win and I don’t know where to begin
To stop loving you

“Good morning, Kurogane.”

5. Charlotte Martin – Quickdive
though I’m in the dark I chase your heart

“I want to return your lost heart…Syaoran-kun.”

Sakura’s going to be selfish this time, and I don’t think anyone could blame her.

6. Drowning Pool – Bodies
let the bodies hit the floor

And meanwhile, Clone Syaoran travels from world to world gathering feathers and leaving bodies in his wake.

7. Faye Wong – Chess Pawn
Wishing to escape from the trap that you've put down
However I've fallen into another deadlock

Infinity. Dressed in black, they play strange chess. And at least one of them is a pawn in ways they don’t even know yet.

8. Charlotte Martin- A Hopeless Attempt
I didn’t mean to do it I didn’t mean to love you
I didn’t mean to chant so all the ways I cannot want you
you know

He has Syaoran’s face but isn’t her Syaoran, she isn’t his Sakura, and even knowing all these things Sakura still feels pain. And Fai is simply trying to distance himself from Kurogane as much as he can.

9. Terami Hirsch – Waking the Dream
but half the fight is in the winning
half the fight is in waking the dream

Sakura changes the future after seeing one dream only to disappear inside another, and it’s not quite like a victory.

10. Tegan and Sara – Dark Come Soon
so what? I lied.
I lie to me, too

“She knew. That I had lied to her.”

Fai has lied about a great many things during this trip and it all catches up in the end.

11. Sarah Slean – Last Year’s War
I’m still bloody from last year’s war

Celes. Scars that don’t heal and a past you can’t run from anymore, and it’s long past time that Fai faced these things.

12. Rachael Sage – Bravedancing
so let faith fall on me now
I’m gonna be here till the end

“Something that could cost me my life…I won’t give that up. Not anymore.”

Fai finally learns to live and all it took was someone cutting off an arm for him.

13. Vienna Teng – The Atheist’s Christmas Carol
don’t forget
don’t forget I love
I love
I love you

And Sakura knows the truth now, that she’s not the Sakura that real-Syaoran has to save. But she’s still someone’s Sakura and she knows who her most important person is. Who it always has been. So she falls into the arms of the boy she loves and disappears into a flurry of petals. And that’s an end.

14. Blackmore’s Night – Way to Mandalay
and the road goes on
seeming ever longer
on the way to Mandalay

…and the beginning of something new.

Bonus Tracks

1. Voltaire – When You’re Evil
and it’s so easy when you’re evil

Fei Wang Reed, our villain. Sure, this being a manga, he probably has some kind of great tragic backstory or important lost person he’s trying to bring back and we should all feel bad for him yadda yadda. But right now, he’s Mr. Evil, sitting in his Chair of Evil drinking Alcohol of Evil while stroking his Cleft Chin of Evil, being waited on by his harem of failed Sakura-clones while plotting ways to screw with the main characters’ lives. To evil!

Disc One - Disc Two + Bonus Tracks

[Notes]

- This started as a KuroFai FST and then I just kept finding lots of Sakura and Sakura/Syaoran songs. Thus, general FST. The cuteness of Sakura remains irresistible to me.

- The extra nifty little pictures were borne out of boredom when my Internet went down for a couple days right when I was ready to start uploading stuff. I liked the first one I did, so I made a couple more and figured I might as well use them.

- The Syaoran and Kurogane songs are a bit…odd, I think, because I had so much trouble finding ones that might work. Fai and Sakura were much easier on that end.

- “Everything about You”…I picked this one because the Three Days Grace song gets used by everyone and I wanted something different. Anyway, this one is sillier, which is more what I was going for.

- #11…this was not a shameless fic plug, there’s a reason I used the title. (This, however, is. It’s my fst, I’ll pimp if I want to. Leave me ‘lone.)

-The thing that prompted me to finish this for posting was the second bonus track. I COULDN’T RESIST. IT’S THE NEW THEME SONG.

When I started listening to "Exile" by Enya (which is a longtime favorite of mine), my first thought was "this is Celes".

But then the lyrics get a more hopefuly tone, so it would kinda fit Kurogane, yes. But the melancholy that clings, still reminds me of Celes....n_n

I actually thought of "Exile" as being Celes-y too because of the part you mentioned, but I thought it was a little Kurogane-ish also, so I decided to use it for him (like I said, I had SUCH trouble finding Kurogane songs. I think he's too well-adjusted or something, nobody really writes songs about well-adjusted characters. And I listen to mostly female singers too, which for whatever reason made it even harder I think.)

Isn't "Liar" a pretty song? When I first heard it on Grey's Anatomy I had to download it because it so nice and such a Fai song.
